Master of Education in Instructional Technology

The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology is 37-38 semester hours and consists of 12 courses, seven courses in the major area of Instructional Technology and five courses in Educational Foundations. The Instructional Design/Development track is intended for students interested in working as instructional designers/developers in industry or academic environments.

The Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Instructional Technology is 36 semester hours in length. This program is designed to prepare students for leadership in technology-related positions in academia and industry. Courses include an array of topics including instructional design, distance learning, authoring, instructional graphics, and project management. The development and application of systematic inquiry skills at the advanced graduate level of study, combined with existing experience and continued study in a field of specialization, is the focus of the Ed.S. degree.

This degree is primarily designed to help individuals work with adult learners in a wide variety of employment settings. This master's degree program is intended for holders of a non-education baccalaureate degree who do not wish to meet teacher certification requirements in the State of Florida.

Master of Arts in Teaching Exceptional Student Education

The Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Exceptional Student Education (ESE) is a program for students interested in teaching students in Exceptional Student Education. The program will lead to a Masters degree in Exceptional Student Education as well as certification in English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL). The program credit requirements vary from 36 hours to 48 hours depending on the area of specialization of a student's bachelor's degree. Elementary and secondary education majors with an interest in Exceptional Student Education are encouraged to apply.

The University of South Florida College of Nursing offers a master's concentration in nursing education. The major goal of the program is to prepare graduates to teach in a variety of educational and health care settings including schools of nursing, staff development departments, and/or patient client education programs. The program is available as a program of graduate study or certificate program for those with masters degrees in nursing.

In addition to preparing teachers of children with visual impairments, the M.S. in Visual Disabilities, through FSU's Satellite Program in Visual Impairment, is designed to train teachers in various areas of specialization.  Students develop individualized programs based on their areas of interest including orientation and mobility, early childhood education for individuals with visual impairments, education of visually impaired individuals in transition, and education of visually impaired individuals with profound disabilities.  There is a critical teacher shortage of professionals in this area of education throughout the United States, including metropolitan and rural areas.

Barry's Ph.D. program in Leadership and Education offers a specialization in Higher Education Administration, and is designed to prepare candidates to assume leadership positions in the fields of education, government, or organizations that are closely related to education. The program is a 54-hour program of study, and is taught in a cohort-model.
