St. Petersburg College offers an RN to BSN degree to help the student advance his/her career while maintaining employment in a current position. The program is designed to enhance managerial skills and chances for promotion. Through SPC's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, offered at the SPC Health Education Center, the student may take classes offered either evenings or weekends in four-to eight-week increments.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Interdisciplinary Health and Human Studies

This program provides career advancement for entry-level health profession practitioners. Classes are offered online, blended, modmester (8-week session) and traditional classroom. Students will develop management and leadership skills and learn about: Health information systems; Health financial management; and Health care issues.

The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is an interdisciplinary program designed to provide career advancement opportunities for entry-level health profession practitioners, as well as individuals who seek careers in health care relevant to this degree such as health services administration, health professions education, gerontology, and recreation therapy. The program also is recommended for students who are interested in a health profession that requires a master of science at the entry level, such as Physical therapy.

St. Petersburg College is the only college in the state that offers a four-year dental hygiene program. While there are 250 colleges in the country offering the two-year degree program, less than 50 offer the four-year program. The new program is responsive to state workforce needs and will articulate with the two-year AS program also offered at SPC.

St. Petersburg College offers a four-year degree program in Veterinary Technology, designed to give students the knowledge and skills to become administrators and leaders in the veterinary technology field. Two areas of concentration are offered within this program:

  • Advanced Clinical Applications
  • Veterinary Hospital Management

Degrees and classes  are offered in a variety of formats, including online and through part-time scheduling. Career opportunities include employment with veterinary pharmaceutical companies, veterinary equipment and supply companies, and in veterinary corporate administration positions.

Bachelor of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics

St. Petersburg College offers a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics. Orthotics and Prosthetics is the science that deals with the use of the specialized mechanical devices to support or supplement weakened or abnormal joints or limbs. Students will learn to evaluate, fabricate, fit and deliver prosthetic-orthotic devices.  Because of the increase in diabetic patients and injuries from the Middle East war, this is a critical program. It is housed with the other allied health programs at the Caruth Health Education Center. A state-of-the-art facility is being built at this location Because this program has specific clinical experiences at certified locations, enrollment is limited.

The Bachelor of Professional Studies, Specialization in Health Services Administration is designed to provide a broad view of today’s health care systems and to prepare graduates for entry and middle management positions in such areas as hospitals, medical or dental clinics, group medical practices, managed care organizations, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, home health agencies, and government agencies.  The curriculum emphasizes management skills for use in any health care setting. This degree is an excellent career pathway for persons licensed in clinical health and medical care professions but lacking an undergraduate degree.
